Founded in 2018, Exclusively First Responders is a team of advocates, first responders, and recovery professionals united by one belief: every hero deserves a safe place to heal.
Laura Linder brings what no textbook can teach — decades of lived recovery experience and a deep personal connection to the first responder community. Her father was a fire captain who struggled with alcoholism. A close friend who was a first responder lost his battle with addiction. These losses became the catalyst for a mission.
As a trained drug and alcohol counselor with extensive peer recovery expertise, Laura understands both the clinical frameworks and the real-world realities that make first responder recovery unique. She recognized early what research has since confirmed: traditional treatment models fail first responders because they don't account for career risk, operational culture, or cumulative trauma exposure.
Under Laura's leadership, EFR has assembled a team of first responder advocates, technology specialists, and recovery professionals to build the Meet Recovery platform — 31 proprietary programs with over 930 lessons, representing $1.66 million in development value. The organization has forged strategic partnerships with groups like The Guardians and Behaivior, a biotech company developing wearable crisis prediction technology.
The organization's vision extends beyond technology to the Responder Recovery Retreat — a residential facility in a private, secluded location in Northern Los Angeles County where heroes heal among their peers through equine therapy, aqua therapy, EMDR, art therapy, music therapy, and other holistic modalities. Years in development, the retreat represents the physical counterpart to the digital tools EFR has already built.
Three women leading the charge — united by lived experience, professional expertise, and a commitment to those who serve.

A distinguished 20-year law enforcement veteran whose near-fatal shooting in the line of duty led to her own battle with PTSD, depression, and suicidal ideation. Now channels that experience into pioneering peer support programs that have demonstrated a 37% reduction in suicide attempts among officers.
Navy Engineer who served on the front lines during the early stages of the war, working alongside special forces to establish the foundation for Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. After six years in the Merchant Marines with the DoD, PTSD led her to leave her career — and a decade of healing taught her what works and what doesn't in recovery.
